With the internationalization of the industrial economics of the world, following the Western model of economic development, countries are developing modern industries rapidly, and pursuiting creature comfort and economic benefits excessively as well as the great-industry production ideas such as mass production, mass consumption, and disposable.Countries are faced with the crisis of the regional cultural decline, the environmental destruction and resource and energy shortages. And the imbalances of natural ecology, cultural ecology and design ecology become increasingly serious. The development of material civilization and disorders of spiritual culture are also attended by all everywhere and arouse deep reflection more and more.This paper aims to draw some valuable series of design concepts and methods tourist commodities with Hunan regional cultural characteristics, which can help designers to understand the effects of local culture on the creative design of tourist commodities, and also help to support designers in the design of tourist commodities with regional characteristics. The series of design concepts can be summarized as following: based on deeply understanding of local culture, analyze and discuss the essence of design problems how to design creative tourist commodities of regional cultural characteristics with a wide range of industrial design language and design concepts.This paper first analyzed and compared the present situation of the tourist commodities design and the evolution of regional culture in Hunan, then discussed the ways to create tourist commodities with regional culture of Hunan from such aspects as design process, design concepts of innovative design, aesthetic design and commercial design etc. Lastly, proved the author’s designing concepts is operable based on analysis of the cases of creative design of tourist commodities in Hunan Museum. Lastly expecting Hunan tourist commodities can be on track, and keep its regional cultural gene in this globalizing era.
