Investigation And Study On The Resources And Landscape Application Of Colorful Plants In Handan

With the envelopment of the society, people’s material living conditions have been greatly improved, and people’s demands on living environment become higher so the traditional forms of landscape can no longer meet the aesthetic requirements of the environment. While colorful plants are getting popular due to composition diversity and different colors has become the new darling of current urban greening with broad prospects for development. The applications of colorful plants have developed rapidly in Handan since recent years, but there are some problems such as poor in species or improper configuration etc; His paper carried out a research on the resources and plant landscaping of the colorful plants in urban green area of Handan and provided summary analysis as well as solutions of existing problems, which provided references to the development of colorful plants and landscape greening construction of Handan and surrounding area or even those of Hebei Province.This paper investigated the status including species, adaptability, application methods and the match with other landscape elements of colorful plants in green areas of main roads, street garden, squares, parks, residential areas, and enterprises greenbelt in Handan through field research with photographs, records and samples, and the results were as follows: (1) The species of colorful plants in Handan: Handan has 70 species colorful plants of 53 genera of 35 families, including 40 arbors accounting for 56.27%, 19 shrubs accounting for 27.14%, 5 vines accounting for 7.14%, 6 herbs accounting for 8.57%; 13 evergreen colorful plants accounting for 18.57 %, 57 deciduous colorful plants accounting for 81.43%; 8 spring colorful plants accounting for 11.43%, 44 autumn colorful plants accounting for 62.86%, 18 ever-colorful plants accounting for 25.71%; 65 monochromatic leaf plants accounting for 92.85%, 3 multi-color multichromatic leaf plants accounting for 4.29%, 2 edging leaf plants accounting for 2.86%; 35 yellow leaf plants accounting for 50%, 28 red leaf plants accounting for 40.00%,1 blue leaf plants accounting for 1.43%, 6 multichromatic leaf plants accounting for 8.57%. (2) Adaptability of colorful plants in Handan: Colorful plants of Handan has 25 native species accounting for 35.71%, and 45 imported species accounting for 64.29%. Most native species were growing well, while a few imported species showed poor adaptability. There were 29 species with good adaptability accounting for 37.14%, 39 species with moderately good adaptability accounting for 41.43%, 4 species with acceptable adaptability accounting for 5.71% and 1 species with bad adaptability accounting for 1.43%. (3) Applications of colorful plants in Handan: there were various applications of colorful plants in urban green areas of Handan including isolated planting, linear planting, clump planting, group planting & parcel planting, lump planting and foundation planting; and the applications matched well with the elements in landscape such as water, roads, rocks, constructions, etc. (4) Problems in the application of colorful plants in Handan: lack of diversity;fewer applications of native plants; unreasonable configuration of colorful plants; inadequate conservation management. (5) The solutions to above problems were as follows: Strengthening the domestication and increasing diversity; making full use of native colorful plants and reflecting the local characteristics;optimizing the configuration, enhancing the artistic effect of color leaf plant landscape;strengthening the conservation management and improving the ornamental value of color leaf plant landscape.
