In order to solve the increasingly serious problem of urban traffic congestion, construction of a public transport-led urban transportation system with rail transportation as its backbone, has become the consensus of the society. The elevated rail transit line with its double advantage of the construction and operating costs, can greatly lower the threshold of the introduction of urban rail transportation system and reduce the maintenance costs in future. However, a number of project practiced in China since2000, which did not deal with the functional and landscape design of overhead lines with the surrounding urban space, makes its space nearby did not get the full development and utilization. Not only a waste of urban space and land resources, it also has become the shackles of the elevated rail transit line promoting in other cities. Especially in our country is currently in the dual context of the rapid process of urbanization and urban land resources have gradually shortage, How to optimize the use of rail traffic along the elevated range space, has become a pressing problems for architects, planners, traffic engineers and other related professionals.In this context, the paper focuses on the Viaduct Section of part of the elevated line of the rail transportation, from the formation of the space along the development, distribution characteristics, morphological classification, components and other aspects, analyzed and summarized its own characteristics of the space along the elevated range. On this basis, to reveal its spatial morphological and functional defects, looking for the optimal use of the strategy and direction, and a variety of forms to collate and analyze the purpose of the measures and guidelines to optimize the use of this space, and its development in the city-process variation.in summery, the study not only recognize that it is necessity and feasibility to optimize the use of the space along the rail transit elevated range, and also proposed the application of a variety of optimal use form and its law.
