The continuous rigid frame bridge has colligated the characteristics of T-rigid frame bridge and continuous beam bridge, not only keeps the advantages of smoothness of bridge’s surface, but also avoids the shortcomings of the erection of large tonnage bearing. It has been widely used in the field of bridge construction. Due to its long-term in the natural environment by solar radiation and temperature changes and so on, result in producing the greater the stress and displacement, and even lead to the bridge produces the severe damage caused by a major bridge accident. Therefore, analysis of temperature effect of continuous rigid frame bridge is very necessary.This paper is based on a continuous rigid frame bridge and establish3-D finite element model by means the finite element analysis software MIDAS/Civil and ANSYS,has done the work as following:1. Summarized the development situation and construction feature of the continuous rigid frame bridge,research status and calculation theory of the temperature effect of the concrete bridge at home and abroad, the functional usage of MIDAS/Civil and ANSYS software on calculation of temperature stress and displacement.2. In this paper, the bridge is imposed four different models of temperature gradient, such as chinese code for design of highway bridge and chinese code for design of railway bridge. Calculate the temperature effect caused by the stress and deformation, meanwhile the detailed analysis of the stress of the cross-span section are provided. The results showed that the box girder stress value will be different with different standards. Among them, the specification of New Zealand s calculated value is largest and the specification of Britain s (BS-5400) calculated value is smallest. The maximum stress and displacement produced in cross-scetion with all specifications. A large decreasing amount of the stress value along the high direction of the box girder roof, while the stress value of the box girder floor change slowly.3. As the pier issubjected solar radiation in different directions at different times. In this paper refer to the temperature gradient mode of the chinese code for design of highway bridge and impose the temperature difference in different directions on the pier. Calculate the temperature effect caused by the stress and displacement. And educe it s distributed regulation about temperature stress and temperature deformation for the solar radiation effect. Then drawing some beneficial conclusions according to calculation result, providing the certain techni reference for solving the problem of temperature effect in designing of the long-span continuous rigid bridge.
