High speed railway has been developed exponentially throughout the world, especially in China with the world’s largest high speed train network. The Chinese high-speed railway experienced the process of introducing foreign technology, absorbing it, and then building the indigenous train sets, which are predominant in the world’s cut-throat market with its particular advantages like high integration, full-range of technologies and low costs. One of the four key issues brought by high speed, the riding comfort and stability, is becoming the hot topic in high-speed railway domain. This comfort and stability measuring device is a product designed according to the requirements of the contracted clients and based on the UIC513and GB5595——85standards.The Chinese universities and institutes in railway domain have developed a series of comfort and stability measuring devices by using Virtual Instruments Technology, MCU, DSP and SOPC technologies, making a remarkable achievement. After having analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of these existing devices, to meet the performance requirements of the clients, a solution scheme was proposed based on SoC technology. The hardware system used the EPC-8000I-L embedded industrial control main board, the LCD touch-screen and the high-speed Analog Input card to acquire, process, save and display data. The software was programmed on the platform of Linux real-time operation system and the graphical user interface was designed by using gtk+1.2. Through combining the hardware and software efficiently, as well as optimizing the algorithm, a comfort and stability measuring device with friendly graphical user interface design, hard real-time and easy to use characteristics was designed.The standards of comfort and stability were reviewed, the structure of hardware was introduced, and the software design and the system design were discussed in details. Besides, this device was exposed to a series of testing, and the results were presented. Finally, a user manual in both English and Chinese was written for the device.
