Suspension system is one important assembly of the car assemblies. Its major role is to slow down the impact and to reduce the body vibration. The automobile ride comfort is a standard estimated the comfortable of passengers. The automobile ride comfort and the vibration of the body are closely related. Therefore, researching on the vibration characteristics of suspension is a good way to improve the automobile ride comfort.Nonlinear vibration is an important characteristic of suspension system. This paper introduces the ways of researching on the nonlinear vibration of suspension system at home and aboard and uses the test combined the computer simulation technology to researching on the suspension’s nonlinear vibration through analysis and comparison the characteristic of the researching ways according to the properties of the subject.According to the national standard GB / T 5902-1986<method of pulse input running test-automobile ride comfort>, the paper describes an automobile ride comfort test about a heavy truck which includes test equipment, test procedures, precautions, etc. Author changes the position of the test according to the national standard.After finishing the test, author describles a sofeware about processing data named DDP and process the data .It has a conclusion through processing and analyzing the test data according to the national standard. The inclusion shows the heavy truck has an ideal automobile ride comfort.For knowing much better the vibration characteristics of suspension system, author simulates the test in computer about the truck after building up the nonlinear vibration dynamics model which has a nonlinear damping coefficient of the suspension in ADAMS software. After comparing the test data of acceleration with the simulation data of accelertion, the inclusion shows that the model can almost replace the car when simulating the test, the damping coefficient is setted reasonably and the suspension system has nonlinear vibration characteristics.
