Dayaowan port is one of Chinese four deep-water enterports, the main mode of its goods transportation are the road and railway transportation, and container transportation is mainly by road. Along with the development of the port, more and more vehicles are entering or leaving the port, so that the port is not free, affecting port operation efficiency. A variety of road transformation has been made by the port, however, simply fixed facilities construction can’t completely meet the need of the port, the traffic organization is becoming more and more important. Intersection adjacent to the port is the link point of port and the outside, and is the throat of port. Its organization plan is especially important. If the organization plan is not reasonable, on the one side, it’s likely to lead to vehicles congestion in port, thereby reducing the port efficiency; on the other side, it may lead to vehicles can’t arrive on time, and extend the ship’s stop time. The characteristics of traffic flow nearby ports are not the same with the urban traffic flow. It is less influenced by pedestrians and non-motor vehicles, and its heavy vehicle proportion is large, peak time is not sure. Therefore, it is necessary to analysis the traffic flow nearby ports, and then optimizes it.This paper based on the above considerations, researched on the signal timing plan of the intersection adjacent to Dayaowan container port, in order to find the reasonable plan and increase port efficiency. Firstly, investigated the intersection and got data such as the traffic flow, type of vehicles and so on. Then reviewed various theories of traffic signal timing, and used Webster model to optimize the intersection. Finally, using the Paramics software simulated it, and analyzed the simulation results. The results show that the optimal timing plan is more reasonable.
