At present, the trend of transport development is to form an integrated development transport mode which composed with a variety ways both have cooperation and division. The convergence of a variety of transport modes of and rail transit is an important part of the integration. Urban rail transit occupies a dominant position of urban passenger transit for its advantages in large capacity, high speed, and time efficency. In the planning of urban rail transit, the existing other modes of transport should be took into account. This is an important research topic of the urban traffic problems solution.By analyzing the international scope of the existing status on the convergence of urban transport and rail transport, this article summarizes the relevant theory of the convergence of urban transport and rail transport, urban transport and rail transport and conduct a specific study on the convergence model of rail transit and urban transportation. It analyzes the characteristics of Dalian City, residents travel characteristics, traffic conditions, divides the city into partitions, determines the convergence pattern with urban rail transit network. Also, it proposed the evaluation method suitable for rail transport convergence system, and the evaluation indicators and the evaluation model.Through effective integration of research on urban transport and rail transit convergence, it enriches the theory of urban integrated transportation study, since providing specific recoomendations for Dalian after the completion of the built rail line. rail lines under construction and providing a reference for city urban transport planning to a certain extent.
