The expressways constructed in the 1990s have stepped into a period of repairingin the middle and major degree, though the construction of expressways started late.During the repairing lots of wasted pavement materials are produced. At the sametime, a large amount of asphalt and aggregates are needed for the development ofexpressway career. The technologies of recycled asphalt pavement provide aneffective method for the reusing of wasted pavement materials. The recycling ofwasted materials not only bring less pollutions to the environment and save lots ofnatural resources, but also make a contribution for the establishment of aresource-preserving and environment-friendly society.Extraction test of the recycled asphalt materials has been taken,and performancetest has been taken for the recycled asphalt and recycled aggregate.After confirmingthat the recycled materials have reached the required standard, researchers chooseappropriate kind and proportion of regeneration agent and mix it with reclaimedasphalt pavement materials and new asphalt and aggregates at different proportionsfor the designing of mix proportion.Six different kinds of blending proportion arechosen as 0%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35% and 40%, and the five different kinds of totalasphalt content are 3.5%, 4.0%, 4.5%, 5.0%,and 5.5% respectively. Then we get thetotal optimal asphalt content of 4.0%, 4.5%, 4.6%, 4.7%, 4.9% and 5.0%, and theoptimal asphalt content for new asphalt is 3.5%, 3.4%, 3.3%, 3.2%, and 3.1%respectively, with each additional 5% of recycled asphalt materials reducing 0.1% ofasphalt ratio for new asphalt. It means that in order to determine the optimumproportion of asphalt. By comparing the pavement performance of different mixture atdifferent optimum proportion of asphalt and different proportion of reclaimed asphaltpavement, we determine the optimum proportion of RAP of 30%.On the base of research results indoor, together with the pavement emergencymaintenance projects of S102 provincial road of Zhejiang province, we make thedesign of mix proportion for practice, and have determined the optimal asphalt ratioof 4.6% and provide some guidance for the paving of test road as well. We have alsosummarized the construction technology and method of quality control for centralplant hot recycling of asphalt pavement, and take the pavement performance test forthe test road. In conclusion, after the big amount of test and analysis, we have determined theoptimum proportion of RAP and optimum asphalt proportion, providing someguidance for the widely use of reclaimed asphalt pavement materials.
