Because of the development of China’s railway is unbalanced, in many marshalling yards of our country, iron shoes as hump slip put car governor brake still play a very important role. However, in recent years with the fast pace of China’s railway freight transportation, the speed is faster and faster, the weight is heavier and heavier, the issue of wheel tread scratches caused by iron shoes to brake is getting more and more serious, not only caused a huge economic losses, but also affects the ability of marshalling station to unloading and distributing goods, and also brought potential safety hazard to the organization work. In order to solve the problem of using iron shoes to brake effectively, this paper using virtual reality technology to simulate the iron shoes braking process. Get the following results:1. According to the reason of the wheel tread scratches cause of using iron shoes took some mechanical analysis, it is concluded that the major reason is the friction coefficient between brake wheel and iron shoes is much bigger, it cause to that once the brake wheel pressing the iron shoe the brake wheel will be locked, and because of the unity of wheel and shaft, wheel on the other side which not putting iron shoes to brake sliding on the trail and cause scratches.2. According to the analysis, connecting with the research and improvement form home and aboard, we can figure that all of them are all around the friction coefficient between the smaller brake wheel and iron shoe’s dragging surface panel, but the problems are not solved effectively. So this article consider that the friction between brake wheel and iron shoes is mainly focus on the point part of iron shoes, we should to slove the wheel tread problem form this point.3. Refer to the geometry parameters and physical properties of major parts through the processing of brake by iron shoes, using3D modeling software Solidworks and according to the size of the1:1established a3D model of braking iron shoes, and with the professional graphic interface of ADAMS got that model be imported and creating constraint, then a3D virtual reality simulation model of braking iron shoes had be established.4. Through the analysis of simulating results, we can draw a conclusion that the friction coefficients of the point part of iron shoes, the panel part of iron shoes, and the bottom of iron shoes affects the braking wheel which sliding on them, while all of this will increase the assurance of the iron shoe’s further improvement.
