Crawler crane is important mobile hoisting equipment widely used in industrial and economic fields. At the present time, with the development of our country’s infrastructure construction and hoisting industry, the requirement for both the quantity and the performance of crawler crane has become increasingly higher, especially large scale ones. The pendant rod of luffing jib is one of the most important lifting mechanisms for crawler crane, of which tensile force affect the design of whole machine and some parts directly. The pendant rod is catenary during crane’s assembly, because pendant rod is flexible component and has nonlinear characteristic, it’s hard to get the pendant rod’s tensile force. At present, people usually solve the tensile force by liner method, there is no accurate solution. In this paper, by the means of simulation analyses and research, we can find one method of tensile force’s solution, which can used in the prime of design, or as the guidance of other farmework’s design.In this thesis, dynamic simulation of the pendant rod of luffing jib is studied on the background of the subject-1000t crawler crane, which is developed by school of mechanical engineering of DUT and Xugong Group.(1) The constitutive part of luffing jib and their various structure are analysed, and pendant rod of luffing jib of1000t crawler crane are introduced and calculated.(2) Based on the research on dynamic behaviors of pendant rod, the simulation model of crawler crane is build by Pro/E, ADAMS software and its correctness is validated through the simulation on different length of jib.(3) References to the nonlinear catenary theories, pendant rod’s tensile force has been solved and the solution is achieved by MATLAB software. ADAMS software’s solution and MATLAB software’s solution are compared, and their relative error are get, the tensile force’s solution is acquired with the catenary theories.In summary, references to catenary theories,this paper find a method to solve the pendant rod’s tensile force, and build the virtual prototype, compared the two solution then achieve the conclusion. This paper offers quick and exact method and approach to get the pendant rod’s tensile force, it’s can be applied for design.
