A Study On The Development Strategy Of Fuzhou Minjiang North Port Waterfront Space

Urban waterfront space has been an important item in the study of modern urban planning, itis also a trend that countries in various cities increase the use of water resources in the cityforeshore. Looking back the development of the past urban waterfront around the world we cansee the early waterfront development was forced to rescue the decline of urban space, generallystaying in the level of the governance of water quality and afforestation of riverbank.After1990，"Waterfront City" came into the limelight of the world as a strategy to save the urban development.The term“Waterfront tourism" became a common noun on the newspaper and network as well.Fuzhou Minjiang North port is an important media in recent development of Fuzhou city. Itssurrounding open space is being faced with revolutionary changes, which is a best moment toresearch North waterfront space.Literature review, sight investigation and record is the main research means in this study.Firstly, we have reviewed the development of city waterfront space and the process ofresearch and introspected the problems in the construction of China’s urban waterfront. Combiningthe research of "sustainable development theory”,“the theory of urban open space”and“ecological engineering theory" with the analysis of City waterfront space elements, we draw aconclusion that Fuzhou Minjiang North port waterfront space should be investigated and analyzedfrom three aspects：the ecological environment level, space planning and design level, social andcultural dimensions.Secondly, we analyze the three levels above through field survey and investigation and getevaluation results of the Fuzhou Minjiang North port waterfront space.Finally, we,through analysis of the present problems existing in Minjiang North waterfrontspace, reference to the success experience of the London Docklands waterfront, VancouverCentral Waterfront, give Fuzhou Minjiang North waterfront development strategies andrecommendations as follows:(1)the North waterfront space should be gradually ecological revetment in the futuredevelopment;(2)Increase the protective utilization of wetlands, Island resources; Reduce the proportion ofreal estate development, increase public buildings, make replacement of park green space;(3)Update the old building, remodel waterfront skyline; protect historical segment, promotecommunication with the public and so on;I hope these can be a certain reference significance for the study of Fuzhou Minjiang Northwaterfront space and the updating of the upcoming North waterfront space.
