Elegant Chinese traditional gardens are well-known oversea and affected Europeangardens extensively. However, due to historic reasons, as in many other areas, the devel-opment of city parks in China are of a great lag behind the equivalent in western world. Inthe current stage, when30years have passed since the Opening and Reforming, physicaldevelopment is growing in a rapid speed while city is expending in a dramatic speed, therewill be reality values studying Parc de la Villette, the famous city park case. The existenceof Parc de la Villette is not a coincidence; there are different forces from different partiespushing it from behind. This article will interpretation this case in multi-angle, returningto Tschumi’s original context, and understand the design as a entirety, and finally reachinto conclusion objectively, learning from finding the essence under phenomenon. The social economic environment, directions in top political framework and ever-lasting creative development of the practice in the realm of architecture and landscape, particularly designer’s personal diverse life, education and working experience cannot beisolated in the founding of the project, building the design theory and the development ofdesign mechanism of the Parc de la Villette at that particular time. Tschumi is an architectwho has solid knowledge in architecture project, in-depth cultivation in culture and art andhigh theorical self-consciousness. His theories’ core forces are the relationships betweenthe architecture and its use by human (event and space). Tschumi’s team won the “21stCentury Urban Park” competition held by France government. As the lead designer in theproject, Tschumi is in responsible for establishing an overall framework, designing ofsome structures, negotiating among independent architects and landscape architects in de-signing specific sites. Facing the complex site conditions, and dealing with the uncertain-ties in the project, Tschumi introduced three neutral systems: points, lines and surfaces. Heargues that the traditional conflicting relationship between garden and city will no longerbe valid, the power of city should be integrated into the city park, thus the park should bewithout fences, and city should be inserted into the park as fragments. Featured Folies gridis introduced,“madness” implied the dissociation and dislocation of city. The technique ofMontage in cinematographic is transposed into the layout ideas of the park. It’s been widely debated from the competition of the Parc de la Villette to its accom-plishment. As a classic case which practicing theories, it inherited former accomplish-ments from procedures while breaking it, demonstrating a logical series of dissociation and reconstruction. As a medium of multicultural activates, the park has positive impact inthe development of city and the society, a favorable loop was well-established between thedevelopment of physical realm and spiritual realm.
