Because the building built before and after the liberation gradually is approaching orexceeding the design service life, seismic reinforcement work will be an important work inour country development and earthquake disaster prevention and mitigation aspects. Newenergy dissipation technology and seismic performance-based design will combine together, and is applied in evaluating and retrofitting the existing structure, and provides a new way forseismic design of retrofitting the existing structure in this paper. The viscous damper energy dissipation technology principle of mechanics, viscousdampers and viscous dampers structure system structure of equivalent damping ratio areanalyzed in this paper. Diagonal brace arrangement of nonlinear viscous damper dampingcoefficient along the floor height distribution formula is studied and derived. The currentenergy dissipation design analysis of the reinforcement method of mode decompositionresponse spectrum method, time-history analysis method, the static elastoplastic analysismethod (i.e., capacity spectrum method) is carries on the system analysis. Based on thecurrent seismic hazard analysis theory, the seismic strengthening design ground motionparameters (fortification intensity, earthquake affecting coefficient, the earthquake groundacceleration) and the amendment factors of the maximum earthquake affecting coefficient indifferent seismic strengthening design reference period are given through theoreticalcalculations, put forward different seismic strengthening design reference period and differentseismic performance levels for structural reinforcement design requirements. According toseismic performance-based design ideas, the general capacity spectrum based push-overanalysis identify additional damper design steps are given. Finally, an example is given on seismic performance design with viscous dampers in theexisting reinforced concrete structure, using a nonlinear time-history analysis onreinforcement and damping coefficients along the floor height of three different distributionpatterns of damping effect to analyse, which provided reference for existing structural energydissipation performance of reinforcement design.
