Accompanied by the accelerated development of urbanization in China, the residents’quality of life has been greatly improved; however, environmental problems, traffic problems and other urban diseases are criticized by people. With the efforts of the whole society, relevant departments and the public’s environmental awareness has begun to be transformed into actions, also has achieved certain results. Besides urban traffic congestion, lasting and complex problems not be eradicated yet, but the corresponding studies have given people the hope of victory.On account of "make way to the car", many urban road networks are perfect, people can drive car from resident garage to any destination, but this concept just focuses on "driving" and ignores "walking", so that the community losing the love of humanity, and more fraction of the safety risks and the barriers between people. In this paper, walking system in living community and its network as the research objects, in order to study on the method of constructing green walking system, main tasks are described as follows:First of all, the classical theories of the residential area planning are introduced, then analysis the unification and division of the "driving" and "walking", the aim is to build a reference for constructing the current walking traffic in living community;Secondly, considering on constructing a green and pleasant walking environment, and the current understanding of green neighborhood, the construction of walking system in green neighborhood is analyzed; Thirdly, combining GIS and other network analysis tools, the analysis and evaluation methods for green indicators of the road network are discussed;Finally, summary and presents some issues for future works are put forward in the paper.
