After nearly 40 years of rapid development, the current society, even the country’s eager pursuit of development speed has gradually stabilized, and the humanized urban space has become the place that all residents yearn. This has also led to a gradual shift in Chinese urban development from a rapid development model to a high-quality development model. In the context of the country’s vigorous promotion of supply-side reforms, traditional planning for rapid expansion has been difficult to meet the needs of development.Facing the growing dilemma of high-quality regeneration of urban spaces, many cities have launched the exploration and construction of community life circles.Compared with traditional planning, community life circle planning is based on people’s daily behavior patterns, which is an organic combination of material space planning and social planning,so that the residents’ material and entertainment needs are met within a short distance of the residence.Including the pedestrian space, which carries the daily activities of the residents, has become essential for the organization of community life, and the public and living attributes of the walking space have been reconceived.,and the public and living attributes of the pedestrian space have been re-recognized.Walking,as the innate natural right inherent to humankind,is the most flexible and universal travel approach. It has an irreplaceable role in short-distance travel, such as daily life and working trip. With the improvement of the quality of life of the people, with the basic walking needs of "walking" and "safety of walking" being met, residents’ demands for daily walking are gradually increased to "decent walking"," comfortably walking ".The article takes the life circle as an entry point, reflects on the internal needs of pedestrian space, and finally combines the actual cases to study the optimization method of urban pedestrian space, and proposes a "walking space optimization" strategy that conforms to the meaning of life.Specifically, the main content of this article can be divided into the following five parts:The first part(Chapter 1)is a review of the research background and related research.First of all,by combing the relevant background status and defining the concept of walking space activities, the purpose and significance of the research in this thesis are expounded, and the research objects and key research questions are clarified. Then, based on the review of the research related to the life circle and pedestrian space, this thesis clarifies the respective development processes of the life circle and pedestrian space.Through the analysis of the multi-dimensional role in the life circle model for urban development, the main points and methods covered by the urban pedestrian space research are definite. And sort out the theoretical approach, the practical approach that will be used in this article,to form the research framework of the thesis. The second part(Chapter 2)is the basic research on daily walking activities of residents from the perspective of life circle.First, this thesis analyzes the activities of residents ’walking behavior from the basic characteristics of walking activities, space laws, and demand levels.Second, the characteristics of residents’ daily walking behavior characteristics are summarized, including the determination of behavior characteristics and their demands for walking space. Then as a view of the life circle, the corresponding spatial elements of the residents’ behavioral demands is clarified. From the basic form of the pedestrian space, this thesis generalizes the optimization elements and analyze the core of different levels of optimization content to build the foundation for the optimization system of pedestrian space. The third part(Chapter 3)builds an optimization system for pedestrian space from the perspective of the life circle.Under the core of "people-oriented" planning theory, with the behavioral characteristics of residents as "element connection",the system of activity rules as "function mechanism",and the demand level as "design guidelines",it proposes "efficient and accessible network organization".The three optimization goals of "safe and comfortable walking experience" and "healthy and pleasant space" are to build a walking space optimization system under the connotation of the life circle. As an urban design that pays attention to the quality of living space and the needs of residents,it should reflect the humane care of the city.Taking the integration of multiple perspectives as the starting point and the human-oriented orientation as the concept, and using space optimization as the means to reshape the logical system of pedestrian space optimization. On this basis, the formation of three major space optimization strategies for network repair, environmental enhancement, and site optimization. The fourth part(Chapter 4,5)is an empirical study of the aforementioned theoretical methods and optimization system applied to the old urban area of Jinsha County,Guizhou Province.Firstly, this thesis deeply analyzes the urban construction status of Jinsha County’s old town and the current situation of pedestrian space.Secondly, based on residents’ travel preferences, this thesis conducts a correlation analysis of the overall satisfaction of pedestrian space in the old city. After finding out the critical influencing factors and revealing residents’ life demands of space, this thesis summed up the core contradiction of pedestrian space optimization in the old town of Jinsha County. Finally, the strategy of pedestrian space optimization in the old town of Jinsha County under the guidance of the living circle was formed, from "network organization","road environment","space node",these three aspects are put forward to optimize the pedestrian space in Jinsha County’s old town, and finally build a Jinsha County pedestrian space system based on the community life circle and "convenient life and comfortable travel".The fifth part(Chapter6)is a review and summary of the full text, summing up the conclusions and innovations of the research process in this article, reflecting on the process of empirical cases, and elaborating the research deficiencies and future research prospects.
