Characteristics And Demand Of Parking Facilities In Ningbo City

With the rapid increase of the urban vehicle population, the city parking demand sharp increase, the parking contradiction between supply and demand is becoming increasingly acute, serious impact on the urban dynamic traffic conditions, which make the city traffic more chaotic and greatly reduce the convenience of people traveling. Studying the characteristics of the city parking, parking demand and pricing programs is to make for parking planning and decision analysis with some theoretical guidance and practical basis.Firstly, this paper introduced the classification of urban parking facilities, including following aspects, such as the service object, site location, type of construction and management methods, and made a detailed presentation for each type. After learning the parking behavior and decision-marking, it given a example for analysis the characteristics of Ningbo city, such as turnover rate, berth utilization, parking analysis and the peak parking index.Secondly, based on several important factors that affect the demand for city parking, i.e., the city’s population situation and the number of jobs, land development and utilization, the region’s spatial structure, and attraction of dynamic traffic. several models are introduced as followed: generation rate model, Correlation analysis model,the parking demand model, probability distribution model, multiple regression model, parking demand forecasting model. Some typical models combined with the infrastructure of Ningbo city are used to do instance analysis, the optimal scheme are generated.Thirdly, the city parking charges and pricing are researched, combined with the knowledge of economics and mathematic, and several methods of city parking pricing are introduced:economic benefits analysis, sub-optimal pricing model, the optimal pricing model based on the behavior system. Based on these theoretical analysis, the pricing strategy for revising the existing criterion in Ningbo city are proposed.Urban parking management strategy are studied in this paper, the crucial problems leading to difficulty of city parking are analyzed, the successful experience at home and abroad are drawn to make constructive suggestions for Ningbo City to be referenced.
