Along with the development of social science technology and the requirement of population growth, railway transportation has made great progress. Marshalling station which is an important place for traffic distribution is the core of the transportation hub. It is very significant to plan new marshalling station layout, assess the existing ones and train the operation management according to the simulation research of marshalling, unmarshalling, and so on. This paper that focused on marshalling operation to carry out three-dimensional visual simulation study mainly described following parts.1. The process and the detail of rolling stock marshalling of railway marshalling station were analyzed. The composition of marshalling station equipment, the principle of vehicles marshalling, and the arrangement form of station were stated.2. Comparing with different modeling methods of the3D visual scene and the marshalling station simulation requirement, the hybrid modeling method based on Graphics and image was adopted, while the scene generation theory was analyzed.3. With the modeling content of marshalling station scene analyzed, the scene modeling procedure and data structure were formulated. On this basis, the track and geographic and geomorphic models were built up. In order to obtain a fuller visual scene of marshalling station, it was necessary to integrate and optimize each scene model.4. The three-dimensional visual model of marshalling trains which include the locomotive and rolling stocks was built up. According to operation characteristics, the DOF technology was applied to bogies and wheelsets. Car bodies, bogies were simplified so as to improve the scene efficiency of real-time rendering.5. Based on the above work, the dynamic visual simulation scheme in the marshalling process was put forward by the joint programming of MFC and Vega. It better realized the fileread of the shunting plan, the definition of the train stock, the control of disassembly and reassembly of train stock, and the drive of wheelsets DOF nodes. All those that gave the user a deeper immersive feeling achieved a more lived three-dimensional visual effect of marshalling station.
