With the increasing numbers of automobile, the development andimprovement of automobile safety technology should never be neglected. As one kindof the automobile active safety technique, the anti-misstep-accelerator system(AMAS) can avoid or eliminate traffic accidents which are caused by the drivers’misstep on the accelerator pedal when the drives tend to brake. The critical techniqueof AMAS still needs to be improved because it is still in its initial stage especially athome. According to summarizing the shortcomings of the existing vehicleanti-misstep-accelerator system or device, a new vehicle automatic braking system ofpreventing mistakenly stepping on accelerator pedal is proposed to cars withcable-throttles in this paper. The system accepts the information of the car andobstacles in front of it, chooses the threshold value of the acceleration of theaccelerator pedal and compares the current value to the threshold value. If the currentvalue is bigger than the threshold value, the braking mechanism will be turned on.The overall plan of the vehicle automatic braking system of preventingmistakenly stepping on accelerator pedal, which is based on the principle of vacuumbooster, is elaborated with its critical technique. It introduces the hardware andsoftware design. Moreover, the main program, the speed measuring program, thedistance measuring program and the acceleration measuring program are compiledwith C language. The experiments is also given to get the needed data, incluing thethreshold value of the acceleration and the vacuum degree of the braking mechanism, and the bearing calibration of the radar sensor. Finally, the system is tested by theparking experiment and the driving experiment. The experiment result shows that thissystem can work when the driver stepps on the accelerator peda1mistakenly.
