As one of the most potential models in automobile industry, the hybrid electrical vehicle manufacture is in the stage of ripeness. The development of the hybrid electrical vehicle has momentous significance for people to cope with the problem:environment pollution and the growing shortage of oil for automobile industry. With the vehicle retention increasing every year, the problem is becoming more and more serious. The hybrid electrical vehicle driven by in wheel motor has been widely studied and applied by producers because of advantages such as: independent control, light, flexible layout and better vehicle dynamics performance. And now many original equipment manufacturers have designed the concept in in-wheel motor driving vehicle and lots of in-wheel motor products.The series hybrid electric vehicle driven by in wheel motor is the research object in the paper. At first, based on the motor type and the rotor structure, classify the in wheel motor. Considering the in wheel motor of the high speed type having advantages, such as:light quality, high efficiency, and especially the development of the compact gear, it is more competitive than in wheel motor of the low speed type, choose the high speed in wheel motor in the paper. Then according to the design requirements, the layout and the dynamics analysis of the vehicle, and using the theory of vehicles and the knowledge of the motor, the matching calculation, containing the performance parameter of the engine, motor and the battery, is completed.Neglect the influence of the tire and ground, the control strategy of the electronic differential system, which is based on the model of the Ackerman-Jeantand and under some assumed conditions, is put forward. The control structure scheme of the electronic differential system for the series hybrid electric vehicle driven by in wheel motor is established.As for the drive motor, under some assumed conditions, the mathematical model of the brushless DC motor is set up firstly. Then for the control of it, adopt speed-current double closed loop feedback control scheme:the speed loop using the classical PI control:the current loop using current chopping control. Meanwhile the paper discusses the relevant theory of the chopping control and the classical PI control.Based on the mathematical model of the brushless DC motor and the relevant control, the simulation mode of the brushless DC motor is built and is simulated by Matlab. The simulation results demonstrate:the motor has good response characteristic, which can prove the feasibility of the control method of the motor. And the research has some reference value to the study of the hybrid electrical vehicle by in wheel motor.
