Monitoring the temperature of the power cable joints instantaneously not only can identify partial overheat timely, estimate the ageing of insulation, or find out potential security risk, but also can provide important basis for load regulation and dynamic capacity-increase.One temperature measurement method which embedded the temperature sensors inside the cable joint was proposed in this paper, and the pre-embedded type power cable joints temperature on-line monitoring system was developed. The system includes pre-embedded type temperature sensors, ZigBee wireless data transmission method and temperature measurement control and data management software, shows high reliability, strong real-time, high accuracy.A test platform for the cable joint temperature measurement was built, the experiments were done for comparing the difference between cable joint and cable body, research was made on the relationship among cable joint’s conductor temperature, the temperature of pre-embedded area and conductor current. Builded the cable joint model in ANSYS, combined with APDL parameter optimization language,a conductor steady-state temperature calculation method by using the temperature of pre-embedded place was proposed. BP neural network was used in Matlab to predict conductor transient-state temperature by using the temperature of pre-embedded place which showed good accuracy...
