Urban road traffic noise pollution has been widely spread in the world. Noise pollution not only affects people’s conversations and work, but also hurt the human health. As a typical urban agglomeration in China, the urban road traffic noise pollution research on thecharacteristics of Pearl River Delta urban agglomeration can provide a good reference for China road traffic noise control management. This paper selected Macau (small but economy is highly developed), Guangzhou (Pearl River Delta highway transportation hub), Shenzhen (newly developed city) as representative cities to investigate the urban road traffic noise pollution. The urban road traffic noise spectrum characteristics of temporal and spatial distribution of urban road traffic noise, as well as different levels of urban road traffic noise pollution were analyzed.. Theresults were proposed as follows:①Three city urban road traffic noise value was near or above the state standard. The urban road traffic noise levels of Guangzhou and Shenzhen cities were higher than Macau at2010.②The gray relational analysis indicated that the length of urban road traffic noise had maximum correlation degree with road traffic lanes and residential population, whereas had minimum correlation degree with GDP.③The urban road traffic noise has wide spectrum. The sound levels in low and middle frequency bands were greater than the higher one.④The sound level of urban road traffic noise were higher during the period from8:00to20:00, and the urban road traffic noise level dropped during the period from20:00to the next day8:00.⑤The urban road traffic noisedid not decline gradually with the height increased in the vertical direction. It increased gradually with the height increased, then dropped while the height reached a certain height.⑥Different categories of roads had various sound levels. Asphalt pavement, cement concrete pavement effected the sound levels. The noise reduction effect of asphalt pavement was better than the concrete pavement.
