With the increasing energy supply and environmental protection pressure, which bring a huge challenge to the Chinese automobile society. To make sure the healthy development of the automotive industry, we have to explore renewable energy, accelerate the car alternative fuels research, and develop the new energy vehicles. After years of study on alternative fuels at home and abroad, alcohol fuels has been known as "the most promising alternative fuels". However, in the promotion process of alcohol fuel, which also encountered many problems that require immediately solution, such as the hydrophilicity of alcohol fuels, the corrosion to metal parts, and adaptive control in the EFI system. In this paper, we focused on the operating characteristics of alcohol fuel ethanol, the research on the characteristics of the air-fuel ratio of ethanol gasoline engine fuel has done on the basis of its current research.First, the influence of air-fuel ratio to engine power, economy and emissions performance had been analysised. and the requirements of the engine under different working conditions on the air-fuel ratio was summarized. The paper also studied the influence factors of the engine air-fuel ratio, such as the dynamic characteristics of the manifold inlet, the flow characteristics of the injector, and the control methods of electronic control systems. Based on the combination of basic physical properties of ethanol blended gasoline fuels, to make sure the same calorific value between the mixture of ethanol and gasoline fuel and gasoline, and enable the dynamic property would not reduce while engine using ethanol gasoline. Finally this paper reached a conclusion that through a series of methods to increase the fuel injection quantity, such as improving the dynamic flow characteristics of the injector, increasing the pressure difference of nozzle inside and outside, increasing the fuel injection hole area, and also enlarging the fuel injection width.Through engine performance tests, the comparative analysis had been done about the speed characteristics, the load characteristics and idle emissions when Engine fueled with three different fuel:93#of pure gasoline, E10, E20, respectively. In addition, the paper measured the air-fuel ratio of the engine at different operating conditions, it also analysised the fuel velocity characteristics and load characteristics of air-fuel ratio about the three fule, by measuring the fuel consumption of the engine at the same time with the corresponding time indirect measurement of the inlet air flow.To apply Numerical analysis software GT-POWER, this paper established the numerical calculation model of the engine fueled with ethanol gasoline (E10) blended fuel. Repeated verification of the model through trial and simulation, it could be confirmed the model reliable when the model accuracy within the range of±5%. The study processed the simulated optimization of Air-fuel ratio when engine fueled with E10in established conditions by established model. Consequently, the objective of improving the engine power output will come true, and provide theoretical support for exploring ethanol and gasoline applications.
