| The University Library is an important place for students to achieve independentlearning in the campus. In recent years, with the development of science and technology,changes in educational philosophy and reading form, university libraries continue toexperience great change and challenge from the traditional single-function to a comprehensiveopening up of information centers and learning centers. In many designs, reading space tendto disappear, libraries have a tendency to liberalization, openness, and composite, the wholebuilding and its surrounding area has become a place of learning in the generalization sense.In the face of these frequent phenomenons, especially reading space generalization, thisstudy proposes the concept of pan-reading space of the University Library, through a lot offieldwork and in-depth research analysis, planning relevant design principles strategies toraise people’s attention to the significant of pan-reading space, giving useful suggestions toexpand and enrich the reading room of the University Library.This article is divided into six chapters:The first chapter described the background and significance of the topic; analyze thecurrent situation of research projects, and determine the objects and scope of thesis, researchmethodology and framework.The second chapter is on the basis of re-examine the library development history and the"reading space" concept, through fieldwork observation of the "pan-reading space"phenomenon, put forward the University Library "pan-reading space" concept, elaborate anddefine this concept, and then sum up the characteristics and type of the space.Chapter three further analysis of the characteristics of the pan-reading space of theUniversity Library, the formation of the causes and impact of the library, and point out thepositive role of the pan-reading space.The fourth chapter refers to the macro-level design research, propose design principlesand strategies of the University Library pan-reading space, and add a few typical examples athome and abroad to give further explanation.Chapter V from the microscopic point of view divides the typical types of the UniversityLibrary indoor pan-reading space and outdoor pan-reading space. Based on this classification, analyzes their spatial properties and characteristics, and affords the corresponding designpoints.Finally, Chapter VI is the practical application of the foregoing research results. On thebasis of the author’s participation in Lanzhou University of Technology Library design,in-depth analysis of the practical application of the pan-reading space in this design. |
