| This paper reviews the present situation of our country urban road transportation, as wellas the road capacity’s foundation in the domestic and foreign, and summarizes theinterrelation between the urban road transportation and the urban economy development, andthen proposed this paper’s main research content.Firstly, the paper described the structure of urban road network. The urban road networksystem is mainly composed by fast roads, major arterial roads and minor arterial roads.Among them, fast roads and major arterial roads constitute the skeleton of urban transportnetwork, and major arterial roads and minor arterial roads constitute the urban road network.Secondly, detailed described the traffic flow characteristics, the traffic flow theory and thetraffic operation characteristics of sections and traffic intersections. At the same time, thepaper discussed the basic traffic capacity, the possible traffic capacity and the design capacityof the road, and analyzed the caculation method of the urban intersections and sections’ trafficcapacity.The urban road traffic capacity and the urban road service level classification weredefined, and analyzed the caculation method of the urban intersections and sections’ trafficcapacity. This paper not only discussed how the road conditions, the traffic conditions andtraffic control conditions influenced the urban road traffic capacity, but also comprehensivelyanalyzed the influence of the road cross-sectional lane width, the number of lanes, the roadintersection forms, the influence of the traffic flow characteristics and the distribution ofvehicle types, the influence of the traffic signal settings to the urban road traffic capacity.Lastly, by surveying the traffic flew and capacity of the Sun Quan Road, this paperanalyzed the road traffic capacity from the aspect of the road conditions, the traffic conditionsand the traffic control conditions, and some pieces of advice are provided to improve the roadtraffic capacity. |
