n traditional semi-rigid analysis of joint of framework, design variables of joint areassumed to be deterministic parameters, such as, general experiment analysis, finite elementparametric analysis and theoretical analytical method. Namely, once the variation of aparameter is focused on studying influencing mode and influencing degree on structureresponse, the other parameters are fixed on their basic values. The effect of correlationsbetween parameters is neglected. Many researchers had proposed moment-rotation models ofdifferent connections. However, most of the models are determined by curve-fitting andstatistically regressed with the test data, and have a lot of human elements. Themoment-rotation models are close agreement with experimental results, but those parametersof the models have little physical meaning, or a negative stiffness may occur within theworking range of the connection. It is therefore still necessary to propose a new analyticalmethod based on parameters correlations to select and refine a simple and accuratemathematical expression to represent the constitutive relation of semi-rigid connectionbehavior for a frame analysis with flexible joints.Firstly, Screening variables using the traditional methods of analysis, considering onlysingle factor of variables, not considering all of the relationship between the factors. Andcompare with experimental data control relating with this paper,in order to verify thecorrectness of the modeling analysis. Extracte single factor,as the input variables in next stepof probability analysis.Then, the probabilistic sensitivity analysis considering the correlation of joint geometricparameters was conducted based on the finite element probabilistic design analysis. A kindof special expression between the geometric parameters and the moment-rotations wasdiscussed according to the correlations and the regression lines of scatter plot between thegeometric parameters and the joint rotations. The parameters of the new moment-rotationmodel have notable physical meaning.Finally, based on this the theoretical analysis was done widely to find the method toapply the presented moment rotation formula, the moment rotation formula which can be usedmore widely was presented. And the paper has compared it with the traditional moment–rotation models, proving its reasonableness and effectiveness.
