Navigation mark is an important part of navigation system. With the continuousdevelopment of the maritime industry, the construction inputs of navigation mark will continueto increase. Application of AIS technology in navigation is helpful to improve the reliability andthe availability of navigation mark, let the navigation mark play a better role in navigation andimprove the quality of maritime security service.This paper analyzes the principle, types, application and problems in the application ofnavigation mark based on AIS, develops an embedded terminal unit of navigation mark basedAIS. This unit uses the LPC2366as the processor and the uC/OSII as the operating system toinstall the AIS transponder into the traditional navigation mark. As the tests, this unit cancollection the state data of the LED light as required and send the data to the AIS communicationmodule, then the AIS communication transmit the data as AIS messages. After processed by theAIS base station software, the state information of LED light can display in the display platformof navigation mark information, realize the monitoring function of navigation mark based onAIS.This paper takes the Xiamen port as the background, analyzes the AIS link load of the basestation which is installed in Jimei University, count the occupation number and occupancy rate ofeach TDMA time slot in a period of time. And according to this statistical method, it develops atime slots seletion strategy of AIS message emission for the navigation marks based on AIS. Thestrategy seeks to make the navigation marks to select the time slot which has the least occupiedtimes as its own time slot of message emission. By this way, it tries to make the times of timeslot reuse which is created by the navigation marks based on AIS meet the minimum and makesthe foundation research for the future using of navigation mark based on AIS in Xiamen Port.The time slot selection can be done by AIS base station according to the strategy or bynavigation mark itself according to the strategy.
