Power system parameters matching is one of most important contents of electricvehicle design. Storage battery and electromotor characteristics together with vehicleperformance requirements should be considered synthetically. Power systemparameters contain battery capacity, motor power, transmitting ratio, etc. Matchingthese power system parameters in reason, proposed performance requirements ofelectric vehicle can be achieved, including climbing capacity, acceleration capacity, service range, etc. Actually, vehicle load and road conditions are uncertain and shouldbe effect-controlled while do optimize vehicle performance.Based on certain vehicle enterprise issue of “electric vehicle R&D”, relatedmatching design and optimization research are produced, mainly on parts selection, simulation model and Taguchi optimization. In this paper, electric vehicle background, present status, basic structure andoperating principles were discussed in the first instance. Comparing with fuel vehicle, electric vehicle has its unique driving system. Power system consists of battery, motorand control unit, then a new issue of its parameters matching and performanceoptimization is put forward. Considering vehicle parameters and designedperformance targets synthetically, calculate major parameters of power unit and selectright types. Finally reasonable layout scheme is verified on the basis of vehicleavailable space and load distribution requirements. Build subsystem simulationmodels using CRUISE software, then connect these to a vehicle model. Inputparameters and operating conditions, circulate vehicle simulation model and analysisresults. Performance including maximum speed, climbing capacity, acceleration, consumption and range, were simulated in this paper to validate that matching schemecomplied with performance requirements.Furthermore, Taguchi robust method was used to optimize parameters ofpowertrain system. Kinds of major parts parameters were chose and matchedreasonably. A topical optimization method of parameters matching was put forwardand was used in this paper for a good performance goal.At last, proving ground tests were produced to validate feasibility of scheme, mainly including maximum speed test, climbing capacity test, acceleration test, constant speed test, roadway circle test, service range test, etc.
