Electrolyte is an important component of body fluids, and it also plays an important role inmaintaining the body’s normal activities. It is necessary to detect the changes of electrolyte quicklyand accurately. Electrolyte Analyzer is a kind of clinical testing instrument that is used to detect theconcentration of electrolyte in human body. The Ion Selective Electrode Method is used in theinstrument in nowadays. With different kinds of ISE, the Electrolyte Analyzer can detect theelectrolyte of different kinds.An Electrolyte Analyzer based on the interface of USB is designed in this paper. A Cypresscompany’s EZ-USB series chip is used as the host controller. This design not only achieves thepurpose, but also simplifies the hardware and reduces the costs. At the same time, this design alsomakes the full use of the advantages of USB. The main contents and results of this paper are asfollows:1. The state of development of Electrolyte Analyzer at home and abroad is introduced. Theanalyzer is designed based on virtual instrument technology. The feasibility of realizing thecommunication between the Electrolyte Analyzer and computer by USB is analyzed. The paperpoints out that the Electrolyte Analyzer based on USB has the ability to meet the basic requirement,at the same time, it can also improve the ability of data processing and storage. It can simplify theperipheral and reduce the costs.2. The structure of USB is introduced in this paper. A kind of EZ-USB controller namedCY7C68013A is used as the host controller. With its powerful processing capabilities and itswealthy built-in circuit, we can realize the USB communication and optimize the design of thecircuit.3. According to the ISE method and Nernst equation, the detecting method is proved to bepractical. This provides fundamental basis for the detecting of Electrolyte Analyzer.4. There are several different modules with different function. Both of the hardware andsoftware are described in detail. The test results are analyzed to prove that the analyzer designed inthis paper meets the design requirement.
