Reticulated shell has been applied worldwide to practical engineering in that it bears theadvantages of reasonable load, high stiffness, large span capacity, light weight, richmoldings, wide application scope, easy calculation and diverse material, etc. Stability, as oneof a vital measure gauge for the safety of reticulated shell, is of great significance tosingle-layer reticulated shells.Single-layer reticulated shell structure, however, due to their single-layer structure andsmall rise-span ratio, it’s stability is very sensitive to the change of component length. Andpresently, the analysis on it’s stability mainly attaches to the structure’s load-displacementcurve without the consideration of temperature action. While, single-layer reticulated shellsactually have wide span, thus temperature action, particularly negative temperature difference, will bring great effects on the stability of structures in that it’s component length will shortenafter the shut of structure. However, being single-layer and having a large span, the structure’sultimate bearing capacity will reduce. In this paper based on a single-layer Kiewitt(K8)spherical Reticulated shell structure, through the linear buckling analysis and nonlinear buckling analysis, study the effect of thestability of reticulated shells under negative temperature difference. This paper mainly workdivided into the following several parts:1. A modeling command stream of single-layer Kiewit(tK8) spherical Reticulated shellstructure was compiled with ANSYS parametric design language (APDL).Use this commandstream, SAP2000and3D3S to analyze a single spherical K8spherical reticulated shell, andcomparative analysis the calculation results, verify the effectiveness of the modelingcommand stream.2. The stability of single-layer K8spherical reticulated shell is studied under negativetemperature differences. Conditions of considering negative temperature differences and notconsidering temperature differences are considered in linear buckling analysis, geometrynonlinear analysis, elastic-plastic analysis, discuss and comparative analysis of the analysisresults, and get the ultimate bearing capacity and change law of linear buckling and nonlinearbuckling analysis of Reticulated shell under negative temperature differences. Get theReticulated shell structure should not be closure construction in high temperature, should beinsulation protection in the cold winter.3. Under negative temperature differences, rise-to-span ratio, initial defection and othereffect factor have certain effect on stability of reticulated shell. The effect of rise-span ratiounder negative temperature differences is analyzed and summed up the law of the s rise-spanratio affect the structural stability of the reticulated shell. Finally the perspectives for further study with respect to the problem about reticulatedshell which is unsettled were put forward.
