With the development of the national economy, the long-span bridges have gotvery rapid development in our country. It is well known that the long-span bridgesare the hinge of transportation, which are heavily invested in, and have importantinfluence on national economy. Once destroyed, it will lead to huge economic lossand heavily influence the work of salvage and rehabilitation of disaster area. So itis necessary to study and master the seismic response of the long-span bridges forestablishing reasonable seismic design system and adopting effective seismicmeasure.Earthquake analysis for cable-stayed bridges has two aims: the first is toensure an enough safety margin against earthquake intensity; the second is toprovide scientific bases and effective ways for vibration resistance design of bridge.Taking a cable-stayed Bridge as an example, establish finite element mode withMidas/Civil software, cable-stayed bridge’s earthquake response were studied asfollows:1. This paper derives the vibration equation of bridge structures in the dampedand undamped, and describes several important methods of cable-stayed bridgeseismic response analysis.2. The dynamic calculation model of cable-stayed bridge is developed withMidas/Civil and the dynamic properties are obtained through model analysis.3. Spectrum analysis is done to estimate seismic response of this bridgeroughly, which the standard seismic response spectrum is inputted fromlongitudinal, transverse, vertical and combination of direction respectively, andcarries on the comparison and summary.4. The dynamic time-history analysis of this bridge has been finished. Theresponse characteristics under the single and combined state’s seismic wave inputare analyzed in details.5. Considering the influence of traveling wave effect to the cable-stayedbridge seismic response in time-history analysis, and providing a reference for theseismic design of cable-stayed bridge. The research results in this paper provide important reference and suggestionsfor the seismic response analysis, besides, the further research problems areindicated.
