In recent years, with the development of science and technology, a variety of novel optical systems are emerging. Three-component zoom lens appeared in this form to be some need. Visual system in military and civilian still play an important role, at the same time the eyepiece is an important part of the visual system. Therefore, to study depth for the zoom eyepiece has important pragmatic value.This paper describes the basic theory of zoom optical system at first, and analysis on it for depth. Then analysis the lens’optical properties in visual system as well as research the resolution for the visual system and other issues. Through the study for a large number of the domestic and foreign literature and combined with specific issues, then completed the zoom eyepiece design work with8~24mm. This zoom lens has a large field of view, the field of view from40degrees to60degrees, the configuration of the IPD in the15mm or so, length control in less than100mm, it has a good color reduction and realizing the miniaturization.At last, research and discussion on the cam curve drawing method in the zoom optical system. This paper lists the four methods of cam curve drawing, and completion of the zoom eyepiece drawing with the dynamic optical theory.
