As a kind of precision optical instrument, the application of zoom optical system is more and more extensive. Zoom system can be seen whether People’s Daily life or military, scientific research, photography, and other professional field. Most traditional zoom optical systems always are working by manual focus and person eye observation. With the rapid development of photoelectric technology, it is conforming to the needs of the science and technology and the development of the times direction that join digital control system in the traditional zoom optical system. The application of digital control technology makes focusing of zoom system more convenient. It can make the focusing mode of zoom system more convenient. The value of focal length can be displayed on the instrument and the image can be observed by eyes. The image can be received by CCD and imaged on the computer. It can realize capturing and tracking of target if it used as an accessory of tracking table.This paper completes the design and implementation of zoom optical system which can be controlled by digital technology. The optical structure of zoom optical system is designed and optimized by ZEMAX software, and makes the system get preferable quality of image. At the same time, the zoom system is controlled by Servo System that include many Photoelectric components like encoder, stepping motor and singlechip computer.It improve the precision of control to the zoom system, and it is significant to the application and development of zoom system.
