The Management By Objectives In Construction Project Management And Case Study

With the standardization of building market and China’s entering into the WTOin recent years, China’s building market has been involved in more internationalcompetitions, leading to the increase in cost and the decrease in profit. Therefore,improving management level and enterprise competitiveness and lesseningconstruction cost have become the first issue for the building enterprise to solve. Theultimate aim of the management by objectives (MBO) of the building enterprise is torealize the maximization of economic and social benefits at a given construction timeand quality. For this purpose, this thesis addresses the relationships among theconstruction quality, cost, and period, emphasizes the way to reduce the constructioncost by optimizing project time, and properly identifies the constituents of the qualitycost to find out the key elements and approaches for the construction management.This thesis mainly includes the following aspects.The history, current situation and development of the project management arebriefly summarized and the existing problems and ways are proposed. Therelationships among the quality, time and cost during the whole process of projectmanagement are systematically discussed. By combining with several study cases, theoptimization of the project period and the constituents of the construction cost arediscussed on the basis of cost control. It is addressed how to reduce the cost of theconstruction project and to improve the profit capacity by effective management ofquality, period and cost. Finally, the proposed method is verified by some study cases.
