This paper presents a study on the Octagon-Shaped of Concrete-FilledDouble Skin Composite Tube Columns (OSCFDSCTC) under axially oreccentric compressed loads. The structure features PVC-U as its inner tubeand octagon-shaped steel as its outer tube with concrete sandwiched inbetween. Comparing with OSCFDSCTC of steel tube as its inner section,it is lighter in weight and lower in price. Comparing with the circle-shapedor square-shaped of Concrete-Filled Double Skin Steel Tubular, it is agood solution to the disadvantages of them.In the first place, Concrete-Filled Steel Tube (CFST), Concrete-FilledDouble Skin Steel Tube (CFDSST), Octagon-Shaped of Concrete-FilledDouble Skin Steel Tube (OSCFDSST) and PVC-U pipe which is used tocomposite member are summarized. The research methods and contentsare briefly outlined. Based on the experiment of Octagon-Shaped ofConcrete-Filled Double Skin Steel Tubular with PVC-U as its inner tube,adopting the finite element software platform, finite element models are established.Then the axial compressive performance of the component is studied,its finite element results agreed well with the experimental. And theinfluences of relevant parameters on the ultimate axial compressioncapacity of the components are examined. Based on the findings from thepresent experimental and numerical studies, a design formula forpredicting the ultimate load of the components is proposed. Its engineeringapplications are further affirmed.In addition, the eccentric compressive performance of the component isalso researched, and the influences of relevant parameters on the ultimateeccentric compression capacity of the components are examined. Theregressive model for the N/Nu—M/Muof components with differenteccentricity and slenderness ratio is established. Finally, based on theresults of numerical simulation,a simplified formula for predicting theeccentric load of the components is proposed in the paper....
