The sortie rates of aircrafts is one of the most criteria to measure the combat capacity ofaircraft carrier."Nimitz" class aircraft carriers is now by far the most advanced nuclear poweraircraft carrier, within the most types of aircrafts and abundant relevant date. Thus, in thispaper, the sortie rates model of aircrafts was built based on the relevant data in the USSNimitz and Carrier airwing nine surge demonstration in1997.Firstly, the influencing factors of sortie rates and system work flow were analyzed. Thispaper firstly gave out the basic concepts of sortie rates; and respectively from the fourdifferent aspects, deck work flow, resource allocation, task, and the environment, analyzed thefactors which influences the sortie rates of aircrafts. Then this paper introduces sortie ratesgeneration process and gave out the work flow of aircrafts.Secondly, according to the discrete characteristics of the sortie rates generation system ofaircrafts, the model of sortie rates generation was built based on Petri net theory. The modeltook constraints and connections between the links of the system into consideration, and alsoconsidered about the influencing factors of the system.Thirdly, the simulation model was built based on the eM-Plant software and overcamethe disadvantages of over-simplicity of considered influencing factors. This simulation modelfully considered overall influencing factors and it was practical.Finally, according to the data in the USS Nimitz and Carrier airwing nine surgedemonstration in1997, two kinds of simulation model was built and simulation was carriedout. Firstly, data from the surge demonstration was put into the model, and reproduced thesituation of the surge demonstration. Through the analysis of two of the simulation model,simulation results prove the availability and accuracy of the model. Then through thechanging of the input data of the model, adjusting of relevant parameters of aircrafts, pilots,and deck work flow, the short board and bottle neck were found out.
