With the rapid development of automotive industry and the increase of thenumber of automobile, vehicle exhaust emission has been a world wide problem.Because it harms human’s health and pollutes the environment severely, theemission standards of different countries have been more and more strict. As a mosteffective and practical method for controlling emissions of nitrogen oxide, ExhaustGas Recirculation (EGR)has been widely used. As the key component in the EGRdevice,EGR valve position sensor (EVP) can accurately adjust the height of EGRvalve and regulate the volume of exhaust gas. Thus effectively reduce the formationof nitrogen oxides and then reduce environmental pollution. Currently, there aremany different types of EVP, but with no uniform standard of national or industry.In most of manufacturers, batch micro-assembly of EVP is limited by manualoperation which with low production, great labor intensity, and random errors.According to the structure and working principle of non-contacting EVP andmodern detection technologies, this paper thoroughly introduced the developmentof a special automatic burning and detecting system.Firstly, veiw to the problem in EVP production, the paper analyzed thenecessity of automatic production and Statistical Process Control. According to thedesign sceme, the system composition and working principle are introduced in thepaper, as well as mechanical design, fixture design, and system control scheme.Secondly, according to the analysis of functional requirements, the software ofsystem is designed, and then the operation interfaces of each functional module aredeveloped by VB.NET and with a brief introduction. In this process, the capabilityof burning is achieved by analysis of programmer’s working principle. Based on theprocess of the detection, PC and PLC is communicated by the detection program.The data of the system is stored in Access database, so it could be copied forstatistical analysis easily. Finally, the control chart and process capability areachieved by statistical analysis in MINITAB, and the reliability of the system isbeen verified.Practice show that the system has stable operation and high productionefficiency. The accuracy of product is improved; also the labor intensity and the production cost are reduced.
