As an advanced secondary cell developed in1990s, Li-ion battery hasseveral superiorities such as high energy density, high voltage, good lowtemperature properties, low self discharge rate, no memory effect, etc. Andnow it has become the third generation space power storage, afterwards ofCa-Ni and Ni MH battery. This paper mainly studies in the technologies ofbattery charge discharge shunting regulator based on space-used Li-ionbattery. The purpose of the study is to use the BCDSR power topology andits control strategy to realize the integration of solar regulation module,battery charge module and battery discharge module.A new type of power control unit with traits of highly integrated,modularized structure and numerical management based on space Li-ionbattery BCDSR is designed. It provides a new thought of the PCU integratedand modularized design, and lays the foundation of the application ofspace-used Li-ion battery.First, the paper focused on the BCDSR topology and its controlstrategy, which integrated SR, BCR and BDR in one module, thus reducedthe PCU’s weight and purchase cost.Then, the charge strategy of space-used Li-ion battery was researched,and its balance management was designed and tested.Finally, a series of test on the designed BCDSR PCU were done. Theresult shows that the PCU implements the three functions of SR, BCR andBDR, and demonstrates good performance.
