The relay protection testing instrument is widely used in relay protection testingwork. At present, the relay protection devices, which are often used, include thethree-phase microcomputer test device for relay protection of Jiangxi East China ElectricLimited Company, the three-phase test device for relay protection of Beijing Bo ElectricLimited Company and the single-phase tester Sverker650/750of Gamma ElectricalEquipment Company.The three-phase tester is not suitable for220kV and above microcomputer relayprotection device calibration. Many of its functions do not need to use in the35kV linerelay protection device calibration work. The three-phase test instrument, with large sizeand heavy weight, is not suitable for the use of35kV and below voltage relay protectiondevice calibration. And Gamma phase tester does not check with the under frequency loadand under voltage protection function although it can apply in the35kV line relayprotection device calibration work. When the35kV line relay protection device settingvalue with the under frequency load protection function in the work, we need to carry athree-phase calibration instrument. This situation increases the burden of being equippedwith calibration equipment.In the current using protection tester, we do not have a relatively simple single-phaseprotective relay testing instrument with the function of checking under frequency load andunder voltage protection function and the advantage of small volume and light weight,such as Sverker650/750.The aim of this paper is to develop single phase relay protection testing instrument. Itnot only can be used in35kV and below voltage microprocessor-based line protectiondevice calibration, but also can reduce the burden of human resources.This paper is focused on the hardware design and the software design of the singlephase relay protection test device. In the hardware design, it is required that the singlephase protective relay testing instrument,meeting the power requiring, can reduce the sizeand weight. In the software design, it is required that this device can better meet thecalibration requirements of35kV and below voltage microcomputer based relay protectiondevice calibration requirements. At the same time, the test instrument has the advantages,including clean software process designing, simple man-machine interface, simple manual input data and convenient on-site operation.On the base of the research result of this paper, we have the HD-60S single phaserelay protection test device. In the use process, our staff has given timely feedback for thenew single phase relay protection testing instrument. The testing instrument in theperformance can meet the35kV and below voltage microcomputer based relay protectivedevices of each protection function checking need and bring convenience for field work inweight and size advantage.
