In1971, L.Chua found the incompleteness of the corresponding relationship betweenthe circuit elements and the variables. Based on this, he asserted the existence of the fourthfundamental passive circuit elements and gave the mathematical model of a memristor.Until2008, HP Labs has finally developed the first memristor and established thecorresponding differential equation model. The memristor is a nonlinear resistor with memory function. Its resistance changesdepending on the amount of charges flowing through it. As the fourth fundamental passivecircuit elements, the memristor has great potential in many areas. In this thesis, the basiccharacteristics of the memristor have been discussed. Then, a more detailed analysis onthe physical structure of the memristor and the mechanism of resistance to change havebeen done. A simulation of the memristor circuit model with boundary effects has beenbuilt based on the differential equation model given by the HP Labs. Its electricalcharacteristics have been discussed and analyzed. Simulation experiments have been madeto prove the validity of the simulation model.A suggestion of image storage has been made: store image by memristive crossbararray. A large number of simulation experiments proved that, this program can store andrestore black and white,16-color,256-color image information without losing precision. On this basis, optimize the image storage solutions to reduce the memristor number. At theend, more optimization programs have been given, and more clues for the further study ofthe subject have been provided.
