In the textbook of the electronics basis,there exist three fundamental passivecircuit elements:resistor, capacitor and inductor. While in1971, Prof. Chua published ahypothesis of a fourth circuit element, which was named as memristor. After nearly37years, in2008, the researchers in HP Lap worked out the physical model of thememristor for the first time,which proves the existence of the memristor. As the fourthfundamental circuit element, the memristor possesses specific functions different fromthe other three elements. It is taken for granted that the successful development of thememristor will lead to the revolution of the whole circuit theory.As a new circuit element in nano scale, the memristor can memorize its resistance.It has a lot of advantages including: the nanometer size, excellent storage capacity, lowpower consumption as well as high durability. Theses advantages make the memristorhave immense potentials in the non-volatile memory, large scale integrated circuit, andartificial neural network and so on. It is in the elementary stage to study the memristor.So far, the memristor don’t have an accurate and unified internal conversion mechanism,The different memristor physical models with different materials andmanufacturing might show the different characteristics except the memoryand non-volatile. It is not easy to acquire a physical model of the memristor for most ofthe researchers. So do the new learners. It’s also difficult for them to master intuitivelythe characteristics of memristor. Thus, at present, researchers could do their researchesonly depending on setting up theory models which approximative perform thecharacteristics of the material part of the memristor. To overcome this problem, we shallpresent a graphical user interface based on HP memristor model and Matlab software.The main contributions of this thesis are as follows:①We introduce the theoretical basis and characteristics of the memristor and thenintroduce the four main types of memristor models. Moreover, we infer the nexus of thevariables theoretically based on the HP memristor model.②A Graphical User Interface (GUI) that can display intuitively the characteristicsof memristor is designed based on Matlab software. At the same time, we also simulatethe image storage on the basis of the memristor. The GUI possesses three importantfunctions:1)For the given voltage signal, it can demonstrate the current-voltagehysteresis and other characteristics of memristor intuitively and conveniently;2)The parameters of voltage signal and memristor can be changed expediently to observe thecorresponding outputs. It’s an effective method to study the memristor.(3) Under thegiven parameters, we can achieve the picture storage based on the memristor.
