Research Of Campus Parking Management Based On Park&Ride (P&R)

Campus parking is becoming an important problem of university management,university parking management has not received sufficient attention in a long time, withthe level of motorized travel raised in campus, parking problems which teachers andstudents concerned more about has become a hot topic of social concern. Because theweak transport infrastructure and the relative lack of power management，our universitycampus has many problems such as lack of parking, road congestion, pollution and trafficsafety and other issues, under the pressure of rapid motor vehicle traffic growth. With theexisting pattern of urban planning and campus construction，it’s difficult to meet the needsof the campus parking by strengthening the infrastructure, increase the supply of parkingspaces simply. Foreign urban construction has proved that Park and Ride, an importantmeans of demand management, can effectively reduce the number of cars into the centralarea of campus, and solve the problem of parking and others, which has a positivemeaning to university management and education.This paper analyzes the theory and practical experience of city Park and Ride(P&R) athome and abroad, summarizes the basic theory of Park and Ride, including its definition,types and research methods. And on this basis, analysis the feasibility of Park and Ride forthe district environment-university campus. Firstly, there establish the campus parkingdemand analysis model by the use of "four-stage method" in traffic analysis, and secondly,a campus Park and Ride probability model established on Logit algorithm, finally, wequalitatively discussed the campus transfer facility location model, with the actualsituation and qualitative study of campus transfer facility location model. Based on theanalysis of model, there established management framework respectively from the angleof management system, management and management evaluation for campus parkingbased on P&R. Through the unified management body, rules and regulations and the useof modern technology, effectively achieve the campus parking demand management.Finally, take the main campus of Huazhong University of Science and Technology asexample, we analyzed the layout of campus, the scale of vehicle development in campus,and the demand for campus parking and transfer, based on traffic surveys. Explored the campus parking management methods and strategies based on P&R, from transfer facilitylocation, campus parking management, parking, transfer management, etc.
