With the rapid growth of traffic, the early construction of the4-lane highway whichof a considerable part were facing the expansion because of the constraints ofsocio-economic level, technical level and the construction of thinking during the earlytime. How reasonable and effective implementation of the expansion, is still worthstudying. Among them, the old and new subgrade differential settlement is the mostimportant and common object of highway expansion study. Therefore, how to analysis andcalculate new and old subgrade different settlement, seeking the technology solution tocontrol differential settlement which is cost and effective become a subject worthy offurther study.A project of expand subgrade test evaluation and design which from Zhuozhou(Beijing and Hebei border) to Shijiazhuang (the Beijing-Shijiazhuang highway) in G4highway as the basis. Firstly, theoretical analysis the causes of common disease and themechanism of the widening subgrade, then, generated by ANSYS numerical simulationwith the widening differential settlement of subgrade, and analysis of new and oldsubgrade different settlement of some rule features. Secondly, from the SubgradeWidening way, embankment height change and the new and old foundations of physicalparameters, etc., through the different settlement of subgrade widening the simulation ofmulti-variable analysis, looking for factors that control the sensitivity of differentialsettlement. On this basis, widen exist subgrade differential settlement control technologythrough simulation and compared deeply, and with the main technical program ineconomic analysis.Proposed the widening way, subgrade’s height, geological conditions and otherfactors on the influence of the different settlement, compared the four main settlementcontrol technology’s treatment effects and the economy, indicating that the geocellconstruction process is maturity, economical and practical, anti-significant effect of thesettlement is remarkable, which can be widely used in the expansion project.
