The subject is based on National Key Technology R&D Program During theFive-year Plan Period, named “Technology and Industrialization of Installation andMaintenance Construction Equipment in Huge Space”(NO.2008BAJ09B06). The purpose isto develop a new kind of self-propelled six masts aerial work platform, which is not onlyholding on its traditional advantages from single or double masts aerial work platform, suchas smaller working space, being suitable for indoor job and so on, but also improving thecapacity of effective height and loading.Do the original structural design of six masts aerial work platform after studying thephysical feature and operating principle. According to the regulation of mast aerial workplatform, find the most dangerous working condition and calculate stability coefficient andoutrigger load, then make the curve of outrigger load on different kind of cases byMATLAB, in order to ensure the safety and stability. The result shows that the outriggerload is a positive number and the stability coefficient is more than1, that means all thedesign meet the requirement of the working stability of machine.Make the force analysis of chain wheel and link chain, so as to get the actual conditionof every single mast on loading circumstance. Build finite element model of mast andanalyze it by ANSYS software, which is including static force analysis on every single mastand a series of masts, dynamic force analysis on a series of masts when it suffered steploading. For the mast, turn the external load into equivalent mass in order to calculate themax bending and stress. The result shows that the max bending and stress were lower thanstandard. For the dynamic force analysis of a series of masts, calculate the natural frequencyfirst, and then analyze the dynamic force to get the response under step loading. The resultwas under control.When the mast’s thickness is a constant, lager section will increase the moment ofinertia, and improve the capacity of anti-bending and twisting resistance at the same time.Analyze the relationship between section increment and inertia by MATLAB software andgive some advice on studying the mast section.Finally, a new kind of self-propelled six masts aerial work platform with higheroperational height and more bearing capacity was designed, which can also fulfill thestandard of structural strength and stability. The process including structural design, forceanalysis, optimum design gave some reference value in the study of mast aerial workplatform.
