With the rapid growth of the global economy, city traffic demand increases rapidly andthe urban traffic congestion has become a problem faced by most countries around the world.Bus Rapid Transit(BRT), as a new means of transportation, has become an effective way tosolve the urban traffic jams due to its great conveyance ability, low investment, shortconstruction periods, instant effect and other characteristics. Urban bus rapid transit systemproject project, however, is involved in heavy investing, while social impact is difficult topredict. Bus Rapid Transit system, thus makes the appropriate evaluation of the project is oneof the indispensable. This paper reviewed the development status of fast public transportation system of citybus rapid transit system, analyzed advantages and disadvantages, sum up among themexperience foundation, pointed out that the rapid transit evaluation ways and basic principles.Based on above mentioned characteristics of BRT, we discuss the content and theory ofthe BRT evaluation system. Then we construct the evaluation indexes and mathematicalmodes about the social appraisal, technical performance appreciation, passenger satisfactionappraisal. Moreover, we analyse the models indexes using the evaluation index quantificationmethod and index synthetic method and filter by the rules constructed by the system ofevaluation. Finally, we analyse and evaluate the BRT evaluation system using multilevelfuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. In Jin Nan city as an example, using the proposed bus rapid transit evaluation theory andmathematical model of Jin Nan city bus rapid transit system, undertook be evaluatingedintegratedly, proved this theory and model of scientific.
