In order to achieve precise control of the gasoline engine fuel injection and ignition,andto achieve the purpose of energy conservation and emission reduction and engineperformance optimization, the paper deeply researches the application of the eTPU (enhancedTime Processing Unit) in gasoline engine ECU.Taking embedded system MPC5634as a platform, the paper, based on the analysis of thecontrol principle of the Electronic Fuel Control, did the following study and exploration:1. According to the characteristics of the crankshaft and camshaft signal, the paper putforward to a timing synchronization control method based on the signal encoding. Themethod used the window technology and ABa gradient method to detect the crankshaft andthe camshaft signal, at the same time coded according to the crankshaft, camshaft signalfeatures and the corresponding relations, then used the timing synchronous control strategy tocomplete the timing synchronization.2. Based on timing synchronization, the fuel injection and ignition timing control wasestablished on the basis of the Crankshaft signal. The paper compared the advantages anddisadvantages of the open-loop and closed-loop control function of fuel injection and ignitioncontrol, put forward to a control method combining the open-loop control and closed-loopcontrol, and determined the method about the injection pulse width, ignition dwell angle andignition time. Besides, the paper researched the knock and the influence of VVT on engine,and proposed the detection methods of knock and the control strategy of VVT.3. The paper analyzed the various functional modules of the control software, it adopteda hierarchical design thought and a method of modular design. The software design wascompleted on the basis of the MPC5634chip and the eTPU module, of which the functionwas timing synchronization engine, fuel injection and ignition control, knock window andVVT control and so on.Using the above research results, static test was carried out on self-designed ECU system.The test result showed that the timing synchronization could be completed within a crankangle of360°, and inject fuel and ignite correctly. Angle error of fuel injection and ignition was less than0.10°, the time error was in microseconds, size of knock window and startingposition could be set and the angle error was less than0.10°, and the VVT angular error wasless than0.10°.The experimental data shows that in a static environment, the design of control strategiesand control software based on the eTPU can achieve precise injection, ignition, knockwindow and the control of VVT angle, which achieves the intended purpose and lays thefoundation for the development of practical gasoline electric control system, and has a hightheoretical reference and practical value.
