Shiyang River Basin, the typical area of northwest arid inland basin, is located inthe eastern part of Gansu. Regional drought and water shortage, the low urbanizationlevel, economy is owed develop. In the process of the implementation of WesternDevelopment Strategy, Because of the special natural and geographical conditions andunreasonable human activities with the rapid urbanization, there has been a seriouswater environment crisis. And the basin has become the typical area of ecologicalenvironment issues in arid inland basin and become the focus of public concern.Therefore, it is a very important theoretical and practical significance to research thecoupling of urbanization and eco-environment in northwest arid inland basin takingShiyang River Basin as an example.To begin with, the thesis, taking Shiyang River Basin as the researched area, Inrecognition of the Shiyang River Basin basic condition, the paper established theurbanization and water resources system comprehensive evaluation index. From twoaspects, Shiyang River Basin of the urbanization process and the water resourcesevolution are analyzed by the application of principal component analysis method.The paper analyzes the urbanization system and water resources system couplingtheory in Shiyang River Basin. Next, the author use factor analysis, the model ofcoupling degree and coupling coordination degree to study on Shiyang River Basin,and give us the result of coupling coordination degrees between the two systems for16years, And analyzes the rule of coupling coordination degrees from time and spacein two aspects. Finally, the paper Forecastes the level of Urbanization of ShiyangRiver Basin, and predictes in future the level of Urbanization and the developmenttrend of coupling coordination degrees. Finally, the author gives some protectionmeasures of sustainable development of the Urbanization system and water resourcessystem in Shiyang River Basin. The thesis is made up with eight parts as follows:Chapter I is an introduction. It introduces the background, the significance of thetopic, literature review both at home and abroad, the main research contents,technology programs and methods.Chapter II is the study area. The natural and geographic conditions of Shi yangRiver Basin is analyzed respectively from location, geology and geomorphology,climatic characteristics, soil and vegetation, river system and other aspects. Then,administrative division and the characteristics of the current social and economicdevelopment are described in Shiyang River Basin. Chapter III is to analyze the urbanization in Shiyang River Basin. On this basis,the author Primary analyzes town changes in the history and the present situation andcharacteristics of Urbanization in Shiyang River Basin. Establishment of theevaluation index system, and using the principal component analysis method tocalculate the level of urbanization comprehensive score, on the basis of the level ofurbanization, this basis analyzes of the Shiyang River basin evolution laws andmechanism of urbanization.Chapter IV is Analysis and evaluation of water resources in the Shiyang RiverBasin. First it analyzes the characteristics of water resources in the Shiyang Riverbasin. On this basis, the author analyzes the Change rules of the development andutilization of water resourcesa in Shiyang River Basin from the total waterconsumption, water consumption per capita level and water use efficiency analysis ofthree aspects. Establishing water resource evaluation model, and using the principalcomponent analysis method to calculate the water resources system for scoring,analysis of water resource systems evolution rule.Chapter V is the urbanization system and water resources system coupling theoryin Shiyang River Basin. The part mainly analyzes the connotation of the coupling,coupling system and complex system, then analyzes the relationship betweenurbanization and water resources. Mainly elaborated the main theoretical point ofviews of the system theory, control theory, coordination theory, sustainabledevelopment theory and coupling system threshold theory, and analyzes every theoryon the urbanization and water resources application.Chapter VI is the empirical research. It is the empirical study of Urbanizationand water resources system dynamic coupling in Shiyang River Basin. The partconstructes the coupling degree and coordination degree model, gives the systemcoupling degree interval division and harmonious development evaluation standard,quantitative analyzes the coupling relationship of urbanization and water resources,the coupling degree is calculated of the urbanization and water resources system inShiyang River Basin during the period of1994-2009.Chapter VII is the future trend of development and proposal. Based on thedevelopment of urbanization of four stage theory and system coupling coordinationdivision standard, predict the future developing trend of urbanization, analyzes thecharacteristics of urbanization, urbanization and water resources system couplingdevelopment state, on this foundation, gave out to study regional urbanization and water resources sustainable development suggestion.Chapter Ⅷ is the conclusion and prospect. According to the previous discussionsummarizes the main achievements, innovation, and the further research work is putforward.
