Analysis On Urban Spatial Expansion And Driving Forces Of Changsha

China is in the process of urbanization, along with the rapid development ofurbanization, different characteristics showed up, it is particularly necessary for thereasonable of management to research on the characteristics and driving forces ofurban spatial expansion. Changsha City is an important part of the reform pilot areadesignated to build the society of environment-friendly and resource-saving.In theplanning and guiding implementation process, spatial characteristics of ChangshaCity will play a necessary role in the development of national soc-economic.In this paper, The remote sensing image, the topography map, traffic maps,plan maps, statistical yearbook, other data and survey data were used as the basis data, Using ArcGIS, SPSS software to process the morphological characteristics of Changsha City,during18years,using the qualitative and quantitativemeasures to study the driving force of spatial expansion.And four countermeasures are proposed.We see the urban spatial expansion of the Changsha City is roughly divided intothree stages. Initially, the speed of expansion was very slow caused by the economic,the traffic conditions, is808hm2/a, the FuRong area as the core area, the spatialexpansion area. Medium term, along with the development of economic and people’sliving standard, Changsha City invested heavily in road transportation construction,urban expansion is mainly concentrated, along the railway and highway. The speedwas155.5hm2/a.Late, the third industry accounted for the dominant position ofeconomic development, the development of the economy onto a higher level thetransport facilities were gradually perfect and ushered in the construction plan of thegovernment’s "two-oriented society”, gross national product in2008year than in2000year, an increase of361%, the urbanization rate of61.3percent,19.8percentagepoints higher than the country’s urbanization rate is the average of urban constructionland area of48,421.7hectares, there are many factors influence the urban spatialexpansion, front of the economic development opportunities.By quantitative analysis we know that the expansion drivers of the urban spatialof Changsha City is the primary industry accounted for the regional GDP ratio,thenon-agricultural population and the per capita housing area of the town economic,demographic and urban construction, expansion urban spatial in Changsha City theprimary industry accounted for the regional ratio of GDP,is the most influential factor was negatively correlated with urban construction land area qualitative analysisshowed that the transportation construction also a great impact in it,and social,cultural factors also play a role in it. We learned from the prediction of the ChangshaCity urban construction land type, Changsha City’s urban construction land willcontinue to increase, which is transformed from the cultivated land, forest and thewater were accompanied that may lead to the destruction of resources, environmentpollution and other issues.There are five countermeasures to solve the problem above,such as, strengthen the communication of the east and west of ChangSha, emphasis onthe spatial structure, intensive use of land, etc.
