| The spatial form of our cities is rapidly changing with economic development and theimplementation of a series of policy on speeding up the pace of urbanization, mainlyreflected in the expansion and evolution of the internal structure and the external spacein the city. The essence of urban spatial expansion is the spatial movements under theaction of internal and external impetus, which is one of the basic features ofurbanization. They are divided into two ways: external expansion and internalexpansion. The different urban expansions are originated from different economicimpetus mechanisms, resulting in different socio-economic effects. Through acomparative study on spatial and temporal laws, mode characteristics and drivingforces of urban spatial expansion, we can not only understand which stage lies in theprocess of urbanization, and also find similarities and characteristics, and predict thedevelopment trend, which helps to bring out useful strategies and recommendations forthe future urban structure optimization. This paper chooses three medium cities in three big regions in Shaanxi province--Yulin,Weinan and Hanzhong, to analyze the patterns, characteristics, temporal andspatial laws of their expansion process. By qualitative and quantitative analysis, theoretical and empirical research, this paper sets up a driving force system of themedium cities in shannxi province. determines the different spatial expansion effect corresponding to different driving factor, then puts forward spatial expansion mode ofcities based on different dominant driving forces, which provides a theoretical basisfor the urban future expansion efficiency.Firstly, domestic and foreign theory about urban spatial expansion, characteristicsand driving forces of urban spatial expansion, were reviewed and summarized, todetermine the basic framework of this study of urban expansion characteristics anddriving force.Secondly, by the comparison and analysis of model, features and temporal variationsof spatial extension of the three cities since the1990s, by combining qualitative andquantitative, inductive and the interpretive mothed, and GIS and statistical analysistechnology, we clarify three strong power and a binding power affecting spatialexpansion of the medium-sized cities in Shaanxi, which are economic driver, forceof government regulation, regional radiation driver and binding driver of the naturalenvironment, and analyze their acting role to lay the foundation for the drivermechanism and model.Again, according to the mutual restraint, mutual promotion and interactiveinterconnectedness of these four forces, we bring forward a dynamic mechanism ofspatial expansion of medium-sized cities in Shaanxi. To further explore the size of everyforce, the direction of composition of forces, we build a spatial driver model--complex action model for medium-sized cities in Shaanxi, which can explain thedriver action of spatial expansion. Under this, we analyze three urban spatialexpansion trace, and obtain the characteristics of the different power modes--Yulinis a ribbon tour city under strong economic force, Weinan is a ribbon tour city understrong government force, Hanzhong is a axial tour city under the balancing forces.By horizontal and vertical comparative analysis of the direction, way and spatialstructure of spatial expansion under changing forces, we summarize five laws in thecommon. Finally,by analyzing the future trends of of the four forces in spatial driver model,we study the future development trend of the spatial expansion of Yulin and Weinan,Hanzhong, and propose appropriate spatial development strategy... |
