Application Of Vernacular Landscape Elements In City Park

In recent years, with the high-speed economy development, social progress andcontinued urbanization, the city construction are springing up in the country, but the rapiddevelopment of city construction also brings a series of problems-lack of city geographicalfeatures, have blind faith in western style and sank into the mire of formalism, which leadto the similarity, inorganic, dehumanization of city landscape and the deterioration of theeco-environment. In this background, relevant professional staffs also start doing thecultural landscape study and regional landscape research, hoping to find the methods tosolve the problems mentioned above. Among different study areas, vernacular landscaperesearch is one of the important directions. With the introducing of city park and therealization of sustainable development of city landscape, this paper applies the usage ofvernacular landscape elements to focus on the city history、local culture、ecologicalenvironment, so as to design the city parks represented with the local values andcharacteristics under the guidance. Through these methods, there are immeasurablesignificance to improve the unique characteristic of the city landscape, promote a cityimage and enhance the public’s attachment and affinity for the local city landscape.Specific argument is divided into four parts, as follows:Through the study of the relevant literature, the second and the third chapters discussthe origin, formation, conception and definition of the vernacular landscape and elaboratethe basic characteristics of it. This paper make systematic research on the different typesof vernacular landscape elements, which are summarized as two categories: naturallandscape and cultural landscape. Those are made a basic research foundation for theapplication of vernacular landscape elements in the design of city park.In the fourth chapter, it analyzes the existing problems on the traditionalenvironmental design of city park and discusses the practical meaning of application ofvernacular landscape elements in the design of city park.In the fifth chapter, it begins to discuss the application of vernacular landscapeelement in city part in all aspects. At first it elaborates the focal point and applicationprinciple of vernacular landscape in the city park. Based on the third chapter, it makes a deep study of specific methods on the vernacular landscape elements in the city park. Inthe end, it puts forward the idea that it needs to combine “modern technology andwisdom” to use the vernacular landscape elements in appropriate way.In the chapter sixth, it combines with concept design to discuss the specificapplication of the vernacular landscape elements in the Wang Hill Park. In the practicalconcept design, it demonstrates the theory about application of vernacular landscapeelement in actual city park design.
